Transfăgărășan Challenge își propune să ofere cicliștilor amatori șansa de a se bucura de o cursă extraordinară pe cel mai spectaculos drum din România, oferind în același timp senzația unei curse profesioniste. Competiția este programată în cadrul Turului Ciclist al Sibiului, ca o cursă premergătoare competiției profesioniste. Prima ediție a avut loc în 2021 și s-a născut din dorința și pasiunea unui mic grup de oameni, care au dorit să creeze o competiție de amatori, pe șoseaua Transfăgărășan, pe care să o transforme într-o tradiție.
